This is a card I created for my new catalog party last year. It was a big hit with my stampers so I thought I would share the tutorial here. The dress template was hand drawn. I started with a piece of paper 4.25 x 5.5 and traced a punch out from the Full Heart Punch, then finished the design by adding sleeves and a ball gown bottom. I have added a PDF of the template to the bottom of the post as well as a printable version of the instructions. Please forgive my photography skills. Most of the time I was taking pictures with one hand while trying to mime something with the other!
- Shimmery White Cardstock (4.25 x 11)
- White Vellum
- Full Heart Punch
- Organdy Ribbon
- Large Pearl Basic Jewels
- Stampin' Dimensionals
- Glue Dots
Fold Shimmery White Cardstock in half.
Trace dress template onto the cardstock, aligning the top of the template at the folded edge.
Cut along trace lines saving the extra pieces for the next step.
Align the straight edge of the removed piece along the outside edge of the dress template with the curve at the bottom of the dress. The thinner end will be at the waist of the dress.
Flip over and trace along the edge of the dress template. Cut along trace line. You should only have to do this once. Since each removed piece is folded in half you will get both side panels with one cut.
The pieces will look like this when finished.
Using underlay template, trace shape onto cardstock weight vellum.
Cut along trace lines.
Emboss the vellum, the side panels or both.
Adhere vellum to card base using adhesive only on the outer edges, not the middle, top or bottom since adhesive can be seen through the vellum.
Adhere side panels with dimensionals.
Punch Full Heart out of Shimmery White Cardstock.
Emboss Full Heart punch out if desired.
Adhere Heart Punch to the card base with dimensionals, covering the top of the side panels.
Use a glue dot to attach the ribbon to the waist of the dress, covering the seam between the layers.
Wrap ribbon around the card, making sure the card is open and you are wrapping around only the card front and secure with another glue dot.
Trim ribbon edge and add large pearl if desired.
Thanks for letting me share!
