Sometimes when you are creating a card you have pieces that are beautiful but they just don't work for whatever reason. While making cards this weekend I had a table full of these little gems just calling to me. I was supposed to be designing for this week's class but I got sidetracked and made this instead.
I would have used this for the card classes I am teaching this week but I had already created one design with a doily and didn't have enough for two cards. Which I think is funny for someone who did NOT understand the doilies when I first saw them. I know! What was wrong with me!
The butterfly panel was a leftover from the butterfly card I showed last week. I just cut the semi-circle from one end. The embossed white piece was an original piece from the coffee card kit. The pink pieces were rejected from one of this month's cards.
I have a few more rejected gems that I hope to make into cards soon.
Stampin' Up! Supplies:
- Stamps: Kindness Matters (w: 122900, c: 122902)
- Paper: Sahara Sand, Primrose Petals, Whisper White
- Ink: Primrose Petals
- Accessories: Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder (127819), Paper Doilies (129399), Subtles Collection Designer Paper Stack (117152), Antique Brads (117273), Pearl Basic Jewels (119247), Illuminate Top Coat Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink - available on the clearance rack! (121084)
I use glue sticks to adhere the doilies, placing glue only on the solid center portion. If you are like me and tend to craft at warp speed you risk tearing your doily if you are using an adhesive runner.
The Illuminate Top Coat is a great way to add a little shimmer to your project. Keep in mind that it can alter the color of some of the inks. Usually it softens the ink in a way that I love. The more you add the more it lightens the color. Bonus: it is available on the clearance rack for $2.19 a bottle!
Thanks for letting me share!
